The
forest became a inspiration for the project. One can see that the site was situated right by the woods
therefore, the authors decided to merge the buildings complex with its ‘background’
as much as it is possible. The rural/ natural character of the Chotomów’s
landscape drawn the architects to the idea of ‘architectural forest’.
The
proposed complex continue the natural character of the surroundings creating a
safe, quiet, spatial and friendly environment conducting children ‘up-growth’
by active amusements.
Concurrently
the buildings complex consisted of relatively big cubature merges with its
surroundings, creating a harmonic, atmospheric and subtle space for its users.
According
to an initial idea the ground floor has been partly ‘released’, subsequently
the architects designed the pass way through the building leading the
users/visitors to the courtyard/ atrium space. Walking by the building
structure (columns) as among woods (wood trunks) one can imaging being in the
concrete forest.
‘The
released’ space open subtle interiors out creating a ‘transitional’ (in/out)
space. Moreover, one can see that the outdoors/context has been also drawn in i.e.
glazed façade.
The principal functional rooms
have been placed on the upper floors creating delicatly ‘broken’ roof in a form
of woods- crown.
