Connection with Nature and Cognitive Benefits
The classrooms are strategically positioned with windows facing a garden, providing children with daily contact with nature. This environment allows students to listen to birdsong and insects buzzing, as well as observe the growth of plants and the movement of leaves in the wind, as well as their interaction with rain. Scientific studies prove that this immersion in nature stimulates creativity, reduces irritability and improves cognitive functions in general.
The school was designed using two prefabricated systems that complement each other efficiently. The roof, made of treated eucalyptus round wood, provides quick and economical assembly, acting as a large protective umbrella over the entire building. For the classroom partitions and ceilings, the Light Steel Frame system was adopted, which, in a single-story construction with low structural responsibility, optimizes the use of materials and resources. This approach allowed the implementation of effective internal thermal and acoustic insulation, ensuring comfort and functionality.
The project was designed with a focus on construction strategies that promote financial savings, achieving a budget that was less than half the amount required for traditional constructions. In addition, the execution time was significantly reduced, with the work planned to take place exclusively during school holidays. The classrooms also have a cross-ventilation system, which creates a chimney effect through strategic openings in the ceiling. This system facilitates the exchange of hot air, ensuring constant ventilation in the space between the roof and the ceiling, contributing to a healthy and pleasant environment for the students.
