Project Overview
The interior design of Cloudhaus Hotel reimagines hospitality through the lens of sustainability and craft. Located on Jinfo Mountain, the project transforms an existing five-level structure into a 24-room boutique hotel, blending the physical and cultural landscape of Chongqing’s mountains into an immersive spatial experience.
Design Concept
Each interior space embodies a dialogue between nature, craft, and reuse. The lobby features bamboo shoot shells and reclaimed timber, handwoven bamboo installations, and terrazzo floors made from mountain stones and gravel. These natural materials—sourced locally and reinterpreted with modern detailing—create a quiet harmony between raw texture and refined form.
Collaborating with local artisans, we transformed traditional weaving methods into architectural features, including bamboo ceilings, partitions, and lighting. The restaurant continues this narrative, incorporating recycled red bricks and bamboo treads into its walls and ceilings, while maximizing daylight and connection to nature.
Sustainability & Material Cycle
Over 80% of the hotel’s furniture was crafted by a local factory, reducing carbon transport and supporting regional industry. Discarded wood, bamboo scaffolding, and semi-finished materials were reused and adapted for new purposes. Every design decision follows a principle of minimal intervention, maximum continuity, extending the life of both materials and cultural memory.
Through this sensitive approach, Cloudhaus Hotel transforms sustainability into an experience of warmth, authenticity, and timeless comfort.
