Fire Station No. 2 is a two-story, 5-bay, 19,000 sq ft building to be located at 2800 Carner Avenue, North Charleston, SC. The building will include earthquake drains and a piled foundation. The first floor includes offices, a community/training room, exercise room and support spaces. The second floor includes areas for the day room, kitchen, dining room, and 12 bunk rooms. The station features both a sliding pole and fireman’s slide to aid in the crew’s ability to quickly and efficiently move from the first to second floors. The site will also include a training tower incorporating various simulation props so the firemen can improve their skills and maintain safe practices. The tower will also facilitate elements required for “combat challenge” training and will be an asset the entire department can utilize to ensure the staff is at the highest levels of fitness and skill development for the citizen’s safety.
