City of Hope is an internationally renowned biomedical research institute and treatment center dedicated to continued advances in the treatment and research of cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases. The Comprehensive Cancer Center is undergoing transformative growth. EwingCole and our partners at CO Architects planned the nine-story tower as a comprehensive one-stop shop for cancer care and research, complete with a dining facility, on-site pharmacy, and compounding facilities, on-site large-scale laboratories for specimen testing, state-of-the-art radiology and radiation oncology equipment, and a range of clinical services dedicated to cancer care. Low-scale facilities are replaced with a high-rise outpatient building with the aim of maintaining City of Hope’s peaceful and approachable patient experience. The northeast campus projects, including the 350,000 SF Duarte Outpatient Center, create a cohesive environment that offers a variety of experiences. With a warm palette of wood and stone textures, the interior is designed with a spa and wellness theme in mind, and daylighting is prioritized for infusion treatment spaces to enhance healing with spectacular views of the San Gabriel Mountains.
