Transportation,Education, and Retail Hub: This case study presents Boston’s City Hall Plaza as the center of urban renewal; A new artist’s cooperative is to be incorporated into the site. A mix of livework studios,classrooms, galleries, cinemas, retail and exhibition space is to be added to the site to create a hybrid building type that will introduce varied activities throughout a typical day.Programmatic elements which consists of live-work studios, classrooms, an auditorium, cafes, retail space and a circulation/exhibition were reshaped in order to be placed into the footprint of the major access ways of the plaza. In this case, the circulation/exhibition program is stretched and transformed into the pathways through the plaza in which the other programs are held in place to maximize pedestrian traffic and limit visual and circulation obstructions.
