A Tapestry of Textures and Tones in Bangalore Living: Cinnamon by Studio GSA
A new home emerges in the leafy precinct of Pebble Bay, Bangalore - spanning 6342 sq.ft., this residence by Studio GSA blends elevated living with an organic sensibility. Designed as a forever home for a young family of five, it embraces muted tones, natural finishes and a calming material palette. Reflecting the idea that less is more, the home offers spatial clarity, flow and a quiet warmth that responds intuitively to everyday family life.
“The clients came to us with a clear vision - something warm, grounded and understated,” shares Santosh Belani, principal designer and co-founder at Studio GSA, which she leads alongside Gaurav Panjwani. That intention takes shape right from the entrance. As you step through the charcoal - panelled door into the quiet, minimal foyer, it is the soft natural light that draws your attention first - filtering in from the tall double height windows at the far end. In this gentle light, the space begins to reveal itself. Warm wood, carved stone details, soft fabric, graphical marbles come together in quiet conversation to shape a muted palette of browns and neutrals.
Just beyond, the dining area opens up - nestled within a single-height volume that retains a sense of intimacy. A live-edge wooden table anchors the space with its sculptural presence. It is flanked by detailed stone panels on one side and a pair of minimal credenzas on the other. The space comes alive when the family entertains, often becoming the centre of activity before guests spill into the formal living room ahead, where the ceiling lifts into a soaring double-height volume. Here, the tall fenestrations glimpsed at the entry take center stage, flooding the interiors with light and framing outdoor views. A richly-veined marble table anchors the space - bold and expressive against an otherwise quiet composition. Neutral linen sofas and armchairs line the periphery, encouraging comfort and conversation.
To one side of the room, a panelled passage leads into a cozy lounge and bar imagined for unwinding. A deep green sofa sits against walls framed with moldings, adding vibrance to the otherwise simple palette. The staircase begins here, its lower steps doubling as extra seating before slipping through a wall cutout - a quiet threshold between the lounge and the living. A monolithic stone bar stands beside it - grounding yet unobtrusive.
The passage leads into a series of tucked-away spaces - a wine cellar, a store room and a powder room layered with dark, rich textures. At the end, two doors lead into the guest bedroom and the children's playroom. The former is a calm retreat, where a charcoal-toned wooden bed pairs with brass-detailed side tables and textured fabrics. The playroom, meanwhile, includes an activity table, bunk bed, and resting nook - all set within the home’s muted palette, but brightened by playful bursts of colour. It is a space for movement, imagination, and moments of unstructured joy.
Upstairs, the private quarters unfold. A family lounge in wooden flooring, furnished with cozy couches and layered with memorabilia sets a relaxed tone. The twin boys’ bedroom features twin beds, vibrant textures, and a vehicle-themed wallpaper, all anchored in a soothing blue palette. Their washroom features geometric tiles that echo the room’s energy. The daughter’s room is rendered in soft pink accents through a floral wallpaper, upholstered bed, and cane details. Her bathroom continues the theme with floral tiles. Each space reflects the children’s personalities while allowing room to grow.
The master bedroom extends the home’s refined design language. An upholstered bed is paired with minimal panelling and brass accents that heighten its quiet sophistication. Natural light pours in, highlighting the subtlety of the material palette. A stone-clad bathroom and vanity round off the space - simple, seamless, and elegant.
At every turn, Cinnamon reveals itself as a home of texture, depth, and thoughtfulness - rooted in family life and elevated in spirit.
