CIMET is a family led consortium dedicated to architecture, construction and real estate development. Its headquarters occupy the two topmost levels plus roofgarden of Glorieta Cibeles Tower, a renovated LEED Platinum certified building designed by the the firm as well. The offices are located in the Roma neighborhood, one of the most emblematic and historic areas of Mexico City.
The design of the space takes into account these diverse activities, departments and their relationship, striving to create harmonious, open and comfortable spaces where all members can feel inspired to create, solve, perform and unfold best. Mexico is characterized as one of the longest work-hour places in the world so making everyone feel at home was a key objective; to achieve this a combination of specific light, locally sourced materials and spatial distribution was employed.
The connection to the exterior is given special emphasis due to the spectacular views available on all sides, framing them and relying heavily on natural light throughout the day, having significant impact on the performance and output as well as on the life quality of humans in the office.
In terms of spatiality the project created a new hybrid that balances and accommodates all desired qualities of the trending flexible open workspace together with private, public, social and leisure spaces. To such effect the space was divided into three zones: a public wing with the reception, different sized meeting rooms, recreation and collaboration spaces; a central general wing with clusters of semiprivate workstations that enjoy central open discussion; and a private wing with adjoining offices that also work as collaborative and meeting spaces.
Finally, at the top an unparalleled rooftop consisting of a large central lounge surrounded by an oasis of native beautiful vegetation offers a meditative ambulatory space not seen elsewhere in Mexico City.
CIMET Headquarters demonstrates that office spaces are fundamental to the functioning of companies, that unique and innovative spaces have significant impact in the performance & output as well as of the life quality of humans behind them.
