The site of the Chess Academy is located directly on the Caspian Sea, at the sea promenade of the urban coast line of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The building is lifted off the ground, floating over a pier which is leading the visitor through a green landscape from the promenade to the Main Entrance.The Chess Academy provides a space for a Multifunctional Hall where Chess Tournaments, Exhibitions, Trade- and Fashion Shows and other events will take place. Attached to the Hall is a 100 meter long Bar and Restaurant, situated along a generous window with a continuous view to the Sea.The Chess Federation and the Chess School are located in the upper part of the building, the Spiral. In this part of the building includes also an exquisite luxury hotel for members and visitors.In the eye of the Spiral an artificial waterfall tumbles down towards a small pond next to the vertical circulation of the Main Entrance.The Academy has a shimmering façade with operable windows and variable louvers. The façade towards the City features a large digital LED screen displaying insights into the building for the public on the shore.Concept Study: 2010 – ; Gross Floor Area: 7.000 m²
