The Charlotte Street residence is located in Pittsburgh’s urban Lawrenceville neighborhood which, like the city itself, is in the midst of an amazing rehabilitation. The Charlotte Street Residence is a former row house, which was transformed into a contemporary single-family home that maximizes light, air and functional space on a mere 14 foot wide lot. In reference to the context, the fenestration of the window openings complements others typical of this neighborhood, while a large picture window in the front room and double glass doors to the first floor terrace channel ample light into the structure.
The row house façade takes a playful tone, with a mix of exterior cladding materials and horizontal red projections dividing up the three stories and making the narrow parcel stand out.
