The redevelopment plan, called ZAC des Bords de Marne, initiates the conversion of a vast area in the heart of the town of Champigny. It includes an abandoned area bounded between the imposing building of Air Liquide and the embankment of the National Society of French Railways (SNCF). As a result of an ambitious planning, the new ZAC will not be connected “passively” to the rest of the city: instead it will consist of a new engine for social, cultural and productive activities. This will happen through the combination of the programs involved: the creation of the National Museum of the Resistance and the definition of an urban space for socialization. The project meets the need to design an efficient building that will host the headquarters of IDF Habitat, while defining the role of the square and its edges, as a public space. This positioning allows a direct interaction between the building and its urban environment, while the core of the island will be used for developing of a wooded area. The façade overlooking the square will be configured as a portico, which will be accessible from the offices at the different floors.
