Conceived as a fluid civic landmark embedded within Central Park, the library reinterprets the public library as an interior landscape rather than a static object. The building’s sculptural form is shaped by continuous movement, light, and public circulation, creating a porous interface between architecture and park.
Organized around a central open atrium, the library features terraced reading spaces, exhibition galleries, learning environments, and community areas connected by ramps and stepped seating. Visual continuity across levels reinforces openness and shared civic experience.
The compact footprint preserves surrounding green space while maximizing public accessibility. A transparent ground level dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior, while upper levels fold and hover to define shaded public zones.
The envelope combines high-performance curved glazing with smooth metal panel cladding, supported by a steel and concrete structural system. Interior finishes balance durability and warmth through architectural concrete, stone flooring, and wood accents.
The project envisions the library as a contemporary cultural landscape—open, dynamic, and deeply integrated with its urban park setting
