In the 6th edition 2023 of Marbella Design has been presented the CATHARSIS project, sponsored by the firm ASCALE, which has won the 1st prize for technological innovation.
The ASCALE porcelain tile in black and white tones, is the absolute protagonist of this space. It is not limited to cladding, its function goes beyond creating architecture and transforming itself into spatial elements, until becoming essential structures.
A space/scenography inspired by post-dramatic theater, theorized by Hans-Thies Lehmann in 1999, CATHARSIS manifests an a-temporal paradox, frozen in a static architecture that only through “theatrical action” (experience) thaws and is placed in the here and now.
The breaking of the fourth wall is the key: there are those who live the sound and visual experience and those who attend it, we are the audience that receives and acts the catharsis, and we are actors who observe and give life to the stage.
The architecture of the space, through the experience, loses its connotations of the real and is thus transformed into a place of illusions.
