CasaNova, a 110-meter high tower in the Maritime District in Rotterdam, is the first triangular shaped tower in the Rotterdam skyline. The tower is currently being constructed on the Wijnhaven 65 plot. CasaNova takes the sightlines and daylight of surrounding towers into consideration and is a distinctive yet fitting addition to this urban area. By engaging with the surrounding street on all its sides, it contributes to the liveliness in the Maritime District.
The triangular volume is a fitting addition to this highly urban area. With a slender motion towards the plinth volume, the tower becomes a delicately balanced icon. By combining a gentle form with a dynamic transition to the plinth we created an elegant sculpture in the skyline. The residential units offer high-end housing with luxurious materials. There are three apartments on each floor, all with a generous balcony in the point offering optimal sunlight and unique panoramas of 300 degrees over the city.
On the adjacent plot The Muse — also designed by Barcode Architects — has been recently completed. CasaNova and The Muse are designed in symbiosis with each other. The two towers share a 1.600 square meter lush green fifth-level roof garden, where residents can meet, share a drink and enjoy the view. Shared spaces include a fitness centre, flexible office spaces, and ateliers. Residents can also rent a meeting room and reserve a mini-loft for their guests. Together, the coupled towers offer an urban living experience with both privacy and spaces for socialization, and are a refreshingly new addition to Rotterdam’s cityscape.
