A slab rises gently from a completely flat terrain, from which the structure of the house emerges, which then supports a roof of inclined planes. The project transforms the typical morphology of sloping roofs to create a new language, with overhanging overhangs, marked slopes, and intermediate extractions.
The structure is characterized by a roof of planes inclined in different directions, based on the concept of origami that draws a recognizable mark across the landscape, blurring the flatness of the terrain. The roof's shifting folds concentrate three converging slopes into large water collection channels, ensuring effective stormwater drainage and facilitating roof maintenance. For the construction of the roof, a steel structure was used, with profiles capable of supporting cantilevered sections of considerable length, while maintaining its lightness and slenderness. Being a composition of irregular planes with varying slopes and directions, the project had to be calculated in Tekla to allow the pieces to be cut to size and at precise angles. This way, the assembly avoided any type of manual maneuvering and ensured its constructive effectiveness.
The roof overhangs are generous in all directions, and the metal profiles of the crimped roof follow the transversal slopes of each fold. The crimped profile is light-colored to reflect the sun's heat and forms a sandwich with 5 cm of high-density glass wool, OSB panel, air chamber, and false ceiling finish. This ensures effective heat and noise reduction inside.
The roof is punctuated by strategic openings, judiciously placed, to fill the interior with natural light and promote effective cross-ventilation. This also breaks the feeling of being indoors and helps expand the interior-exterior relationship.
A generic criterion and main concept for all our projects is to create distant views from all angles, projecting the interior toward the exterior and vice versa, without neglecting protection from the climate and the privacy of home life. Not only does this create a sense of homeliness and quality of life, but it also allows a broad and diverse flow of natural light through the open, permeable planes in all spaces. From the outside, we mysteriously perceive a protected life, promoting tranquility, containment, and family coexistence.
The dynamism achieved through the permeability of the façade and the unique appearance of the roof is accentuated by the strong presence of the wooden slats, emphasizing its design and highlighting the project amidst a clear and free environment. More than a house with a classic and correct functioning, the project aims to be a response to a space capable of promoting an indefinite and diffuse interrelationship between inside and outside. In this way, it fosters a lifestyle that, despite being 10 minutes from the city center, feels like being lost in a free and natural space, far removed from chaos. Its timeless aesthetic ensures sustainability, transcending trends, and guarantees a positive and powerful image throughout its lifespan. The tension lines generated by the roof and the horizontality of the base create a new presence within the environment.
