There are places that seem untouchable. And when they are touched, they remain so, as if nothing had changed, except for an added sense of refinement and quality.
To the earth and the granite, to the persistent contours of the land and the surrounding landscape, concrete and plaster, stone and lime were added, marking an undeniable human presence in a construction that cannot exist without the natural environment, relying on it for its purpose and value.
Glass cuts through openings, letting the outside flow inside; granite anchors the dwelling to the terrain and its enduring ruins; wood brings warmth and comfort. In blending the here and now with what is possible and desired, a home takes shape from a defining curve, extending outward in a projection that pushes the volume beyond its base. Beneath this overhang, a scattering of small perforations allows a shifting mix of natural and artificial light to filter through over the course of the day, creating a unique and welcoming play of light in a space designed for social connection. It is through this subtly voluptuous form that the building asserts itself and reveals its presence in the landscape.
