Casa 49
Perched atop a lush hillside in Nosara with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, Casa 49 is the realization of a childhood dream. Inspired by early years spent in California, the client envisioned a home suspended between mountains and sea a sanctuary where family, landscape, and architecture converge. Today, that vision comes to life in a residence that embraces its environment with clarity, warmth, and intentional design.
The home is built around a structural language of exposed black steel and concrete, softened by carefully crafted wooden slats and warm timber ceilings, which provide both texture and climate efficiency. These elements work together to encourage natural cross-ventilation, allowing breezes to move effortlessly through the interiors while filtering light in soft, rhythmic patterns.
At the heart of Casa 49 lies its commitment to interior exterior connection, a defining principle of Salagnac Arquitectos. The expansive social wing opens fully through large folding doors, dissolving the boundaries between indoor living spaces and the generous terrace that overlooks the infinity-edge pool. This seamless transition creates an atmosphere of openness and ease, where daily life flows naturally into the surrounding landscape.
The floor plan is organized into two distinct wings on the main level:
A social wing, featuring elevated ceilings, panoramic views, and fluid gathering areas.
A private wing, containing two bedrooms designed for comfort, privacy, and proximity to nature.
The lower level includes two additional bedrooms, one of which is a playful bunk room for six children, designed to foster family connection and create lasting memories.
With its clean modern lines, bioclimatic principles, and a material palette that balances sophistication with authenticity, Casa 49 embodies architecture as a bridge to nature a place where the horizon, the mountains, and the home coexist in harmonious dialogue.
