Located in the Ħandaq Industrial Estate, the Camilleri Group Offices are a collection of individual offices and open-office areas. Through well-designed meeting rooms and an in-house training centre, the underlying concept is forward-looking. We created a design that cultivates a more sustainable office environment and facilitates teamwork.
This is a building of and for the future. Its structure uses a highly energy-efficient building fabric, which makes these offices stand out from the norm. We inserted three longitudinal courtyards in the layout. These act as wells of light for several individual offices, two of which are open-air and serve the natural ventilation requirements of the adjoining interior spaces. We also inserted photovoltaic (PV) panels that partially cover the outdoor space and provide shade. On the roof, there are a further 195 PV panels (1,500mm x 900mm), which generate about 318kW of electric power per day.
Above the central courtyard, you’ll find a large internal skylight (10,000mm x 2,200mm). This was installed to enhance airflow and to increase the amount of natural light even further. On the inside, glazed partitioning separates each individual office but still allows maximum natural light penetration. The result is a very comfortable working environment.
