Situated at the southwest edge of the city of Osijek, the economic and cultural center of the eastern Croatian region of Slavonia, it is the first phase of the task to develop a regional “Entrepreneurship and Business Center” which aims to improve business support services and infrastructure for the establishment, development, and expansion of business.
The building was envisioned with multifunctionality as its core identity.
As these kinds of objects tend to be sterile and highly exhausting for the senses our goal was to make this building calming and welcoming for the users while staying in line with sustainable building practices. We succeded in that by incorporating wood as a main structural element of the roof, making it at the same time open, light, and visible. From an engineering point of view, the roof is exceptionally interesting as some beams span for over 40 m.
This comforting atmosphere was enhanced with other wooden structures like frames on the offices and tribune for the auditorium. 60 sq. meter green wall and large indoor planter provide a natural and calming environment and the glass facade provides lots of natural light adding to the desired effect.
Functionally building is divided into two main parts. The First consists of an exhibition hall with 4 smaller conference rooms for business meetings and presentations. The second is a multifunctional auditorium with office spaces on the second floor. These two parts are divided by vertical of supporting facilities like a coffee bar, cloakroom, toilets, etc. making it possible to use the whole building or just some areas depending on the needs of the specific event taking place.
