This bungalow is unique in it's neighbourhood in that it was built and occupied by the Architect who designed the sub-division where it is situated in the 1960's. The building was scarcely modified when it was purchased, but the client knew there was something special about it.
The space had been feeling dark, dated and drafty, so we opened it up to its simple yet elegant structural elements; a two-sided brick fireplace and walls of windows. The original wood windows were replaced with energy-efficient aluminium-framed windows, a hall closet was removed and transformed into a unique, era-appropriate styled screen wall, the kitchen and dining room were re-located, new floor finishes were provided throughout and the environment generally adapted and re-organized to suit the needs of a modern, evolving family.
