A refined expression of minimal luxury, where light, proportion, and family life shape a timeless home.
Located within the serene residential fabric of Satyagrah Chavani, this bungalow is a thoughtfully composed response to contemporary family living. Designed for a family of four with an affinity for minimal design, the residence embodies a quiet sense of luxury—one that is expressed through spatial clarity, material restraint, and meticulous detailing rather than overt opulence.
The 6,700 sq.ft plot, with a narrow frontage of 50 feet and a deep 131-foot depth, is flanked by neighbouring bungalows on two sides, with roads at both the front and rear. These site conditions informed a design strategy focused on drawing in natural light, creating layered privacy, and establishing seamless indoor–outdoor connections. The result is a home that feels open and airy, yet inwardly composed.
Architecturally, the bungalow is defined by a composition of staggered, intersecting volumes. A bold cantilevered front mass emerges from an oversized corten steel box, its façade articulated with finely arranged MS strips that create a dynamic play of light and shadow throughout the day. This is complemented by a grounded grey volume on the lower level, clad in cement fluted sheets, adding texture and visual balance to the elevation.
The interior unfolds as a continuous spatial experience unified by seamless marble flooring. The entrance vestibule, finished in stone veneer and wooden veneer, sets the tone with a raw yet refined aesthetic. A sculptural console with a marble top introduces a subtle note of luxury, hinting at the detailing that follows within.
The ground floor accommodates the primary living spaces, including the drawing room, family lounge, kitchen and dining, bedrooms, and prayer area. The drawing room opens towards the front garden, allowing abundant daylight to animate the interiors. At the heart of the home, a double-height family sitting area becomes a focal point, finished with light beige cut-stone textures and warm wooden lighting bands. This space establishes visual continuity across levels and opens towards a landscaped rear garden featuring a gazebo and waterbody.
Private spaces are distributed across the upper floors, each designed with a consistent yet nuanced material palette of MCM textures, veneers, fluted panels, and soft fabrics. Elevated terrace gardens extend the living experience outdoors, screened with intricate architectural latticework that balances privacy, light filtration, and views.
The second floor is dedicated to leisure, housing a home theatre and an expansive terrace garden that remains visually connected to the lower levels. Throughout the bungalow, every material choice and spatial decision reflects a commitment to precision, craftsmanship, and timeless design.
A home where minimalism, materiality, and meaningful living converge in perfect harmony.
