This 16’ wide (+/-15’ interior width) house began as a sagging 2-family with cramped rooms and little light. With no original details to speak of, the clients were free to start fresh and maximize every inch. The first floor was reinforced with steel so it could be opened the length and width of the house, with large windows at the front and back and carefully thought-out millwork. The bright modern spaces now feel fresh and open, with plenty of room for family living and elevating touches like hand-painted tiles in the kitchen and matte natural oak floors. Upstairs, three new skylights pour light into previously dark rooms, and smart space-saving choices managed to squeeze two bedrooms, two bathrooms, ample closets, and a laundry room into a very tight footprint.
