After identifying the site and assessing possible child numbers, we were able to share some early proposals with our key clients. Bright Sparks Childcare acquired the site and took the project forward. This ultimately resulted in a quicker process with council planners during resource consent.
The design uses a simple white frame to house the main functions, opening onto the outdoor playground and car park, with the more private functions housed in timber boxes inserted within the frame.
The upper level has another extruded white frame, which is drawn out over the lower one to form a canopy to the entrance below and play area at rear and both are punctured by a simple timber, steel and glass stair which becomes a focal point of the entrance.
