Boston Cambridge Marriott is located in the heart of technology central in the Cambridge/Boston area. Their current fitness facility featured a pool, whirlpool, and fitness equipment, but the space was under-utilized and desired to be more cutting edge, given their location. S3 Design worked with Marriott to create a fitness experience that is customized and technologically advanced for the increasingly more connected traveler. In order to accommodate this direction, the pool and whirlpool were filled in to create more usable fitness space.

The space is organized around “program boxes” wrapped in a wood screen. As guests enter the fitness space, between the locker room box and the refreshment bar box, their attention will be captured by the cardio equipment, defined by linear light fixtures wrapping from the ceiling to the wall. Adjacent to the cardio equipment is the Studio “box” in the corner that serves as a 400 sf space for Fitness OnDemand programming for individual or small groups. The existing weights and cardio that shared 850 sf, now have 3,000 sf of space.
