TGAS was awarded this EMS / Homeland Security Facility based on experience with public safety buildings and a record of stellar design. This ground up facility is planned to support first responders during major events. Boston knew how to handle its recent experience, and this provides a cohesive environment for as yet unknown events. Planning is the strongest defense. Here we use that planning for maximum flexibility, state of the art equipment, extensive coordination, and minimized response times. Severe events require severe response. However, design of such a place requires careful decision making. Neighborhood integration is one, aesthetic impact is another. Here a big box holds many smaller rolling boxes, all reflective of one another, standing strong.
