The
Bonifacio Global City Superblocks development has created an inviting urban
attraction within metropolitan Manila, the most densely populated city in the
world. Superblocks offers high-end retail, commercial and dining within
picturesque greenery and an open park within the context of a culture that is
only recently exploring the concept of publicly accessible open space. In
contrast to its highly commercial surroundings, Superblocks establishes the
central public domain where culture and art flourish and quality of life is at
its highest.
The
design accounts for several layers of sustainability, including social,
environmental and economic, revealing how, as landscape architects, we can
provide solutions that adapt to changing cultural and economic conditions with
a keen design sensibility. Superblocks affords the community a unique
opportunity to gather in a large and safe setting to celebrate events, shop,
picnic, and enjoy a large green space away from the overwhelming urban
cacophony of the surrounding busy streets.
