In the middle of a grown pattern of settlement in Gauting near munich three single- family houses with their associated garagebuildings were erected to redensify this area.
These buildings created in ecological timber- frame construction are grouped around a shared patio with a calmed down traffic guidance accomplished through a tapered driveway which serves as seperation to the public space therefore it can be used as a shared play or communal space for the residents.
The alternating assembly of the houses resembles the grown pattern of the surrounding development. The buildings with ridged roofs are a contemporary interpretation of the typical regional single family houses.
The clearly shaped buildings are cladded in black timber boards and windows from larch timber in different squared formats to generate a play of contrast in materiality and sizes in the facade.
The access of each house is a foyer with a big open space which grants different views over all stories. The living space is located two steps deeper than the entrance and is devided into dining area, kitchen and living room and is seperated through a glazed loggia.
The Staircase meanders through the different Storys what generats different situations with exciting visual relations.
The interior choice of materials correlate with the exterior materials in the use of contrasting timbers.
