The goal of the landscape design was to create a fluid and distinctive outdoor living and study space. A platform for seating and socializing with wooden design elements, linear pavement and vegetation volumes was created. The geometrical form of seating and pavement correlate to the façade of the new Faculty building. The platform also functions as an entry plaza for the existing and new architecture. Cherry trees are randomly placed between the stairs and the wooden volumes – cubes for seating. They are caught in different bands of paved surfaces. Linear pavements of sand and terrazzo continue from the building and finish with the ramp to the old entrance. They are lit with led linear lights. Special attention was given to the design of the stairs. They gently disappear in the terrazzo ramp and square surface. The existing Persian beech tree was preserved and emphasized with the grass rectangular carpet. Bicycle parking was placed on the edge of the cobbled square in front of the existing building. The landscape is simple and open to all users to ensure social interaction. // landscape design: Landscape d.o.o. / architecture: Krušec arhitekti / Plečnik architectural medal, Slovenia //
