Better Half Coffee and Cocktails is a renovation of a 1,912-sf concrete block, freestanding building that used to house a rental car company and includes a new 550 sf commercial kitchen. Conceptually, the building was divided in half in the spirit of traditional diners with the bar on one side and dining on the other.
The challenge was designing custom detailed and fabricated elements without exhausting the construction budget. Working closely with the craftsmen and fabricators the design team was able to strike a balance that resulted in modest and unassuming results.
