This renovation of a home on the Belvedere lagoon dramatically alters its street presence while creating a new pattern of living that centers around a welcoming outdoor space. With a new layout, new finishes, new plants, and gathering areas, a formerly unused and languishing patio becomes a central focal point of this home. This new central garden space links the interior to the exterior and fosters connections between previously disconnected interior spaces. Finally, as the entry point of the residence, this central garden creates an arrival sequence that transitions from the public zone of the street to the private residential zone. The garage and the street wall edge of the entry garden were both re-designed to provide increased privacy and a buffer to the street.
