The building is conceived as a ramp
that links all the library levels and which is endowed through its
dimensioning with functions, becoming thus the main space of the
library. The ramp comprises attached spaces that are internet
accessing points and also hosts the book deposit and the reading
areas in an “informational continuum”. Starting from the ramp
towards its margins, the dynamic of the space is diminishing towards
the exterior, where the reading areas are located. The reading areas,
although comprised in the large and open space, benefit of privacy,
but in the main time offer quick access to the printed materials,
located in the deposit and illuminated concordantly to the library
requirements through the envelope. Based on the idea of fluidity, the
building has open spaces in which the reader is freely moving to
acquire the materials. The free plan as well as the system of
networks allows a great flexibility in organizing the library. The
changes that appeared along with the evolution of the program can be
easily applied, requiring a short term of execution and minimal
costs.
