This situation makes the theater become the main highlight.
Bayuquan Poly Theater has 3 levels above the ground level. The capacity of the large Dance Theater is 1600 people and on the multi-functional theater, 800 people can be hold.
The whole theater is created for a special kind of show, a traditional folk Chinese dance.
For this reason the facade is broken in an irregular motion, like a fabric in a dance.
The material chosen is a white perforated metal panel. This metal reflects the idea of light and movement that the interior can be showing. Some big spaces are open to create entrances and guide people movement to the interior of the theater. Lights and shadows finish the whole composition.
The dome of the main Dance Theater was designed for both structural purpose and a special function. The steel-frame dome can be rotated, opened and closed to meet different performance requirements.
The interior U-shape plan adopts the form of roman traditional theater and the space is separated into 3 levels vertically.
Sight analysis was carried out to allocate the seats in the theater. To ensure best acoustic performance, the main source will be natural and each seat for audience takes up 7.7 m³(the total volume is 12300 m³). The reverberation time could be adjusted due to different performance requirements.
