ROMANESQUE AND GOTHIC CONTEMPORANEITY

Integrated into the medieval centre of Regensburg, classified by UNESCO, and facing the Danube River, the place is connected to the Romanesque and Gothic towers and roofs that cut the skyline of the urban center. The idea, developed in partnership with the collective Menos é Mais, adopts a composition where the unity and diversity of the bodies that compose it are evident. Between integration and the affirmation of contemporaneity, the museum is the filling of irregular urban voids and the establishment of a regulatory riverfront with urban dimension and aspiration.

The exception and differentiation of use, support morphologically the option of creating a common base that liberates superior diverse uses in a progression that evolves towards the urban axis exposed by the crossing over the river and the towers of the Cathedral of Regensburg. This base is an apparently permeable void between the city and the river, a longitudinal unit on the ground floor with playful and public ambitions that liberates volumes that dematerialize and become autonomous in order to respect and renovate the identity of the place. Contemporaneity is characterized by the density, opacity and materiality of the language.
