Located in downtown Tokyo, Botão Salon is a renovated hairdressing salon in the heart of Shibuya.
From the outset Keiji Ashizawa Design worked closely with the appointed graphic designer, forming a relationship to strengthen the overall design aesthetic. The gentle and playful branding was represented architecturally through a soft colour palette – light timbers, pale blue and white. The reservation of natural light was important, both conceptually and functionally, thus storage space was tactically inbuilt into furniture to retain openness on the floor plan. A simple shelf serves as an internal partition, separating the service counter from the washbasin. Cutting stations have been designed as loose furniture pieces, resting lightly on the floor with three thin steel legs.
The collaborative approach to the design of Botão Salon can be experienced through the cohesiveness of the space. The overall feel is calm and considered – the kind of environment one can enter and feel immediately relaxed.
