The design and construction of the Ballard Passive House meticulously adhere to the stringent criteria established by the Passive House Institute, showcasing an array of cutting-edge technologies and exacting building methods. Executed by First Lamp, the construction of this exemplary residence was completed in the summer of 2019, setting a benchmark for sustainable, energy-efficient living.
The spatial experience of the residence is choreographed with utmost precision, beginning with a deliberate setback from the street that sets the stage for a dynamic entry sequence. As one ascends the staircase beneath the elongated canopy, a deliberate sense of compression is palpable, intensifying the anticipation before entering the foyer, where this sensation is further prolonged.
Transitioning into the living space, occupants are met with a release of spatial tension as they descend a modest flight of stairs, marking a definitive arrival and fostering a sense of decompression. This carefully orchestrated journey underscores the architectural narrative, heightening the occupant's engagement with the built environment from threshold to habitation.
