The clients, a couple with three grown-up children who have already moved out, have undergone a significant transformation in their family structure. Aware of this change, they are seeking a home that aligns with their new needs.
This project is a testament to our philosophy: that spaces are not only meant to be inhabited but to be truly lived in and enjoyed to the fullest.
The main design decision was to create a comfortable home for two people that could also accommodate 15–16 people during family gatherings, provide space for visits from children and grandchildren, and, in the long term, allow for the potential presence of a live-in assistant. For this reason, a service area was included.
The kitchen, living room, and dining room therefore become the most important areas of the project, interconnected through a functional wooden element that, almost like a piece of furniture, articulates these spaces. Additionally, this feature allows for the incorporation of a small kitchenette designed for the couple’s daily use.
Another key aspect was the connection to the outdoors. To achieve this, the terrace was fully glazed, creating a smooth integration between the exterior and interior spaces.
This carpentry element blends with the architecture of the space, maintaining the clean lines and sense of continuity that define modern design. The choice of the “Green Tea” color for the built-in furniture is both bold and calming, injecting life into the space without disrupting the overall harmony.
The built-in carpentry adds both functionality and style, serving not only as storage but also as a decorative element in its own right. The design reflects a deep understanding of how architectural components and detailed carpentry can coexist, offering an approach that is both practical and poetically visual.
The layout is designed to flow effortlessly, with sliding walls and doors that reveal or conceal different areas, allowing the house to transform according to the inhabitants’ needs. Built-in storage systems and custom design solutions are seamlessly integrated into the walls, ensuring that every element has its place without disturbing the calm, orderly aesthetic.
Natural light plays a central role, illuminating natural wood surfaces and minimalist finishes that speak of simplicity and elegance.
In addition to a youthful and modern touch, the exposed structure pays homage to one of the spouses' background in engineering. The characteristic green color, present in the living room of their previous home, is repeated in this new residence, keeping alive the essence of the house where they raised their family.
