High in the Andean landscape of Quito, the UEPM Classroom Blocks redefine an entire school campus not by filling space, but by strategically ordering it. The project inserts three independent, modular buildings that organize the central void into a vibrant ecosystem of patios, plazas, and interconnected platforms. This approach fosters a new sense of community and frames deliberate views of the mountainous terrain.
Designed for efficiency and speed, the project utilizes an honest, exposed metal structure. A system of flexible ramps, bridges, and staircases adapts to the steep topography, creating dynamic circulation paths that serve as informal spaces for interaction. More than just an expansion, Aularios UEPM is an architectural strategy that shapes the spaces in-between, creating a cohesive and inspiring environment for learning that is in constant dialogue with its powerful natural context.
