A LANDMARK THAT REDEFINES THE URBAN LANDSCAPE
In the vibrant heart of Quito, the Portugal Building – UFC Gym emerges as a bold architectural statement, redefining the “live-work-train” paradigm. It is the materialization of a new way of inhabiting and experiencing the city, a landmark that anchors future investment. In the face of uniformity, its slender, twisted form introduces a unique dialogue with the urban landscape. Two residential towers frame a central atrium, a “vegetal cave” that ascends from the fourth to the twelfth floor, culminating in a serene swimming pool and green terrace. The torsion of the facades optimizes sun exposure and ventilation, bathing the spaces in natural light, while an exterior canopy frames views of Quito.
SPECTACLE AS THE HEART OF THE PROJECT
At its base, the UFC Gym Signature becomes an architectural device, an urban stage that transforms the ground floor into a continuous theater. Visible from the street, with its octagon and LED screen, it integrates spectacle into daily life.
ARCHITECTURE THAT MAXIMIZES VALUE
This strategic “programmatic congestion” – housing, entertainment, retail, and flexible spaces – not only maximizes value but also redefines visibility and generates new ways of living.
SEISMICALLY OPTIMIZED STRUCTURE
A high-strength steel structure on a reinforced concrete base. Modular prefabrication for speed, efficiency, and quality. Concentric bracing and a decoupled core guarantee a controlled seismic response. Lightweight enclosures, a structural envelope of aluminum and glass, and centralized technical walls maximize stability, maintenance, and flexibility.
RADICAL SUSTAINABILITY, INTRINSIC EFFICIENCY
Here, sustainability is an operational skeleton. Surpassing the NEC 2011 standards, it achieves significant energy and water savings through passive design, innovative water management, and responsible materiality.
