For the first ARTICA ice cream shop in Málaga’s city center, the proposal features a singular material gesture that evokes the cold storage rooms where the ice cream is preserved. The façade is defined by simple lines that frame the entrance, complemented by an awning that extends outward. This marks the threshold between the street and the shop while providing shade to protect the interior from Málaga’s intense sunlight.
Inside, aluminum sheet panels delineate the compact customer area, reflecting natural light and framing the space. These panels establish a continuous visual language, reinforcing the shop’s conceptual reference to cold storage environments. One of them serves as a discreet hidden door, seamlessly integrating into the design while providing access to the ice cream production and storage area behind the counter. This preserves the store’s spatial cohesion while ensuring a smooth transition between its public and operational zones.
