This is the interior design project for a gallery space within "GINZA SIX", a newly established multi-complex in GinzaTokyo. This gallery deals with art works in wide variety of genres for sales, with a concept of "discovering a treasure of your life in Ginza".
Once visitors go through the entrance space under a tunnel in black color finish, they find an exhibition space detached from the surrounding environment.
Two exhibition rooms in trapezoid shapes are produced by setting up a single wall diagonally within a square shaped space. This setup spontaneously promotes variations in distance between a visitor and an art work according to positions.
The floor finish is applied with flooring materials in seven different colors, so that the color of the floor shifts in gradation according to the scales of the spaces.
We intended to create a place by manipulating the "scales" and "colors" of those not-so-large gallery spaces to achieve a sense of depth and freedom of wandering, where the spaces with diverse qualities could allow each visitor to have an image of how art should be within an everyday environment, and discover a "treasure" to go through life together.
