Originally designed for the Club Méditerranée, the Aquascope was first launched in 1979. This semi-submersible trimaran for the observation of the underwater world is based on the principle of variable floatability that offers it a possibility to plunge in the water once with passengers on board. It allows them to feel fully integrated in the ocean to discover the stunning subaquatic life in coastal areas. Its bionic form and innovative design attracted many maritime tourism agents from all over the world and its different versions (A8 for 8 passengers and A10 for 10) have been recreated more than 30 times. Some of them are still functioning, namely in the waters of the National park of Port-Cros in Hyères (France). The central 7 meters long and 4, 4 meters large shell is made of aluminum and the portholes are methacrylate. Divers play the role of stabilizers and ballast.
