The apartment building in Alimos was beneficially affected by the allowance to build low-level buildings in the area. The main characteristic of this building is the incredible view to Saronikos Gulf and Ellinikon International Airport. The beautiful location was the principal that helped create the composition.
The inclined earth was a useful factor to put the parking area underground. This way we achieved a pilotis with its roof becoming a garden of fruit trees, herbs, and other vegetation. The lack of cars on the ground level of the building create a pleasant view of space to the user.
The building is made by two main volumes which connect with bridges. The bridges’ views are to the sea and to the ground-level garden. This way every flat retains all benefits of an independent and private residence. Flats vary from 645 to 1,937 square feet, depending on their location and view.
The magnificent location is enhanced with large openings in the living and dining areas, roofed balconies, and kitchens with views to Saronikos Gulf. The flats of the third floor are linked with a bridge of greenery where BBQs and pergolas will be added in the future.
The design aimed to maximize the use of all interior spaces by eliminating any heating devices to under-floor heating and VRV systems for cooling. The building is equipped with external insulation, energy efficient windows and doors, blinds for shading, and other automatic technologies to achieve efficiency in usage and money.
The two volumes of the building are complemented by timber cladding at the exterior and ground floor, timber sun-shades on the bridges, glass at the balconies, and also special attention was given to exterior lighting.
