Despite the legal prohibition, multi-storey urban constructions have rapidly penetrated the gardens of Mohammadshahr in Karaj. Our building was located in the middle of these gardens and at a point that was only a few alleys away from the city, and this short distance is also getting shorter day by day. Amir Villa did not want to be a partner in the greedy development of urban constructions in the area, so, contrary to the previous decision of the client, we decided not to change the height of the building during the renovation process and to keep it as short as before. The quality of the building’s architectural structure and utility system was also not desirable. Our proposal was to design a separate space for the bedrooms at the back of the main building; an extension space with a rectangular shape of polished texture and white color would be located next to the old building, which would be renovated with a rough-textured plastic form and warm colors of wood and thatch, and a glass bridge would connect them. Next, we tried to give a new quality to the building’s lighting by using the courtyard space and the gap between the existing building and the extension.
