The Goals: To complete the development of the Am Garnmarkt neighborhood, a new mixed-use building combining retail, office, and residential space was to be constructed. The Implementation: This striking building provides an attractive focal point for the neighborhood. It serves as a transition from the dense development in the center to the more open residential area to the north. The building has five stories on the south side and three stories on the north side. The ground floor features spaces for retail and dining, while the first floor houses a fitness studio. The upper floors contain 30 residential units—1- to 4-bedroom apartments with high-quality finishes and loggias. Key features: The floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows offer a unique view of the Swiss mountains or, depending on the apartment’s location, a view of the Am Garnmarkt promenade. The perforated façade with its slanted window reveals contributes significantly to the building’s striking appearance. The cornices provide horizontal structure, while the interplay of slanted window reveals on either side of the windows adds visual interest to the façade. Furthermore, the building’s high-quality natural stone cladding, with its texture and color, creates a visual connection to the local setting. In coordination with the municipality of Götzis, a new shared park and green space is being created.
