The Gateway is part of the iconic Harbour City retail complex on the Victoria Harbour waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui. When RLP was commissioned to rejuvenate and revitalise the premises, we proposed a bold plan: converting the existing cinemas at the ground floor into retail areas and an office lobby; carrying out associated addition and alteration works on the second and third floors to streamline the layout and configuration of the shopping arcade and its circulation pattern; improving connectivity with the adjoining Ocean Gallery; and the design and construction of a new building façade – including selecting the glass and conducting mood studies of the various designs with the client.
The alteration, addition and modernisation work involved the demolition, construction and re-configuration of infrastructure, shops and the entire mall layout, stretching over 10,900 sq.m.
