“It’s Alegra is a restaurant, lounge and bar in the heart of Dubai within the shadow of the Burj Khalifa, the
world’s tallest building. The space is dominated by a high resolution led screen mounted within a long
broken crease in the ceiling plane. This crease is repeated exponentially utilizing trapezoidal “faceted”
ceiling and wall planes of beveled black glass. Each of these panels is backlit to form an energetic
lightscape that unites the room.
The warm tones of the gold foil embossed leather and the deeply tufted dining ottomans lend a rich and
sensual comfort to the interior. In counterpoint to the luxe upholstery are the glinty reflections that ricochet
and sparkle around the room bouncing from one plane of black glass to another. The linear led chandeliers
by Il Pezzo Mancante further reinforce the sparkle of the room. Their 20 foot long ribbon of golden graffiti
and crystal candles provides a sparkling canopy to the main bar.
Later in the night Dj’s and Vj’s sweep the room up into a tempest of sound and visuals that are without
parallel. The led ceiling bursts into a fiery life that is reflected throughout the space. It’s a visceral visual
experience, infectious, brilliant and nearly overwhelming.
Alegras food features forward leaning molecular techniques coupled with rich flavors and textures. Like the
interior, it’s a combination that creates an exciting yet comforting dining experience. Mixing tradition and
ingenuity in true Spanish style, offering a wide selection of small plates for sharing. Rooted in the regional
cuisines of Spain, including everything from traditional tapas to more modern deconstructed Sushi. Venture
into chef Rob King’s “Tapas”try filled fantasy, where dramatic dishes feature a decidedly modern twist on
farm fresh produce and uniquely sources ingredients.
