Acibadem Kent Hospital is a transformative healthcare campus that reimagines an existing medical facility as an integrated, future-ready environment rooted in place, wellness, and flexibility. Designed by LJC for Acibadem Healthcare Group, the project encompasses the renovation of an 800,000-square-foot hospital and a two-phase, 400,000-square-foot expansion, creating a cohesive campus that balances advanced medical care with human-centered design.
Inspired by the ancient ruins and sculpted landscapes of the Izmir region, including Ephesus and Pergamon, the architecture is conceived as a composition of solids and voids, “carved” volumes, and articulated façades. Stone cladding and shimmering dichroic glass create a dynamic exterior that changes with light and movement, establishing a contemporary yet contextually grounded identity. The punched window pattern and modular façade system reflect interior functions while reinforcing a calm, dignified presence.
A clear campus master plan organizes inpatient, outpatient, emergency, oncology, and service functions through a legible hierarchy of entries and circulation. A new public concourse stitches together existing and new buildings, improving wayfinding, patient experience, and operational efficiency. Modular planning enables phased construction and future adaptability, allowing renovations and expansions to occur with minimal disruption to ongoing hospital operations.
Designed with sustainability and wellness at its core, the project aspires to LEED Gold certification. Strategies include reduced glazing ratios to optimize energy performance, daylight-optimized patient rooms, landscaped courtyards that promote healing, and strong connections between interior spaces and nature. Beyond its environmental performance, Acibadem Izmir Kent Hospital delivers social and economic impact by expanding access to high-quality healthcare while setting a new benchmark for integrated, resilient hospital design in the region.
Together, form, function, and impact converge to create a healthcare campus that is both iconic and deeply humane, an architecture shaped by place, purpose, and people.
