Designed by Gensler, with base building architecture by FXCollaborative, Acibadem’s centralized, mixed-use campus efficiently streamlines the connection between the Hospital, Children’s hospital, and Headquarters – strengthening its local presence while delivering an experience unified by culture, wellbeing, and tradition.
The hospital lobby area is the welcoming heart of the building, offering a comfortable, soothing environment on arrival. A digital, data-informed artwork of blooming flowers by local artists, Hakan & Suleyman Yılmaz reflects the 145,580 newborns born at Acıbadem’s network of hospitals – creating a visually therapeutic lobby experience while celebrating the hospital’s work and the patient experience that is inextricably part of it.
As patients and visitors move through the hospital, the design incorporates “zones” where the design shifts and special moments reveal themselves, promoting wellness, comfort, positive distractions, and healing.
Outpatient rooms employ a poly-clinic model - a combination exam-consult room, providing a human-centered approach that allows patients to be part of the dialogue with their doctors, while also allowing ample space for family members (a cultural priority). Every patient floor has an indoor garden and an internal lounge to provide options of rest or interaction for patients and family members. Within patient rooms, the healing garden concept is realized via calming materials and hues, organic geometry, carpet textured vinyl flooring, wooden wall panel coverings, and tactile surfaces for a sensory experience.
On the hospital patient floors, indoor gardens located on every other floor are adjacent to family lounge spaces. This approach reiterates the hospital’s holistic approach, whereby every inhabitant – patient, family member, or hospital employee – is cared for, and provided with opportunities for healing moments. Contextuality is celebrated within the design through the use of visual motifs that nod to the locale; inspired by Turkish patterns and texture, interior design touchpoints reference Turkish tile geometries and patterns.
Within the Children’s Hospital, the specially created Acibadem “mascot” character plays an important role in the design, strategically placed throughout the lobby and patient floors to accompany the children on their journey to wellness.
The 16-story workplace/HQ redefines Acıbadem’s brand and corporate identity, improving the effectiveness and quality of the workplace while creating an enhanced employee experience through both architectural and campus improvements. Private offices are located on the interior of the floorplate to maximize access to daylight. To support well-being, multiple terraces and healing gardens are integrated throughout.
The Acibadem Ataşehir Hospital differentiates itself through its specialized spaces for both treatment and healing; state-of-the-art devices for diagnosis; and a Command Center that uses AI and digital infrastructure for management of the hospital.
