Abbey Palace of Val Saint-Lambert

Seraing, Belgium

STATUS
Built
YEAR
2008
SIZE
25,000 sqft - 100,000 sqft
Built in the 1760s, the abbey palace of Val Saint-Lambert is listed as a monument and site since 1973, when the glassworks that occupy since 1825 are still in business. With their bankruptcy three years later, the building was gradually abandoned and is in disrepair when we are responsible for its restoration in the late 1990s experience with reallocation of old buildings we has defined an intervention adapted to the philosophy and importance to the state of the property: combine efficiency and respect for heritage, avoid any interpretation, restore the original architecture whenever its form is uncertain and supply gaps remains in place with minimal intervention but resolutely contemporary and easily identifiable as such.
