OKW was asked by our long-time client L3 to reinvent the shell of a former bank building on the corner of Randolph and Sangamon into a mixed-use building designed to serve modern retail and office tenants.
The design utilizes expansive glass surfaces to take advantage of high ceilings and a new brick facade reminiscent of vintage industrial buildings in the neighborhood. We paid careful attention to each facade and how it relates to the pedestrian experience from all angles. Each street elevation is treated uniquely with the northeast corner of the building serving as a modern glass lantern, identifying the office lobby.
Lastly, OKW will refresh the existing third floor roof terrace as an important component of the new design, whose use by adjacent tenants will further connect the life of the building to activity on the street below.
